Site Objective: BC4C was a new fitness boot camp startup that donates their proceeds to a rotating charity of choice each month. BC4C needed a site set up quickly that would allow for content to be updated and managed easily. Of course WordPress fit the bill perfectly. WordPress allowed BC4C to maintain a blog to post fitness and nutrition tips, as well as several plugins that allowed BC4C to easily communicate schedules, weather conditions, and social features such as photos and comments that integrated with several third party applications.
Development Specifications: Development consisted of setting up a custom theme, customized plugins, ecommerce tie-in to Google Checkout, and integration with third party applications such as Facebook and Flickr.
Plugins used included functionality for:
- Weather alerts using Google Weather Widget
- Tabbed content
- Flickr integration
The Facebook Connect API was used to give campers a facebook wall hosted on the BC4C domain to comment on the days workout and interact throughout the day outside of the actual camp.
The Google Checkout API was used to power the signup process and collect new camper info.
Overall the site was quickly and easily implemented, met the current needs of the organization, and allows for flexibility down the road as needs change and the organization grows.
